Info On The Place:
The Old Rectory once were the vicker lived for St. Marys church right across the road, We are not sure on dates, of the building but we know its a listed building.
The vicar lived in the recorty for many years, but then abandond the building and moved down the road a few blocks, the building became very unstable.
Now the Building is restored and made into flats.
Information on the ghost sightings / hauntings:
Behind the building is a nursing home, and staff from there have reported seeings shadows move by the broken windows,
Even people walking by down rawmarsh hill, have said they saw a black figure in there.
is this the ghost of the old vicar?

Not sure about the ghost of an old vicar as most seem to have given up the incumbancy before they died, although there may have been one or two who did die there. I know the last Rector to live in the old Rectory was called Richardson. The next one moved into the new Rectory that shares the same grounds. I agree that it's a spooky old building and viewing its delapidated state from the Peace Gardens across the road used to give me the creeps at night! Lots of empty black windows (the few without boards) made me expect to see a face or figure appear.
ve lived in the flats for nearly 3 years now since they were restored. when i first moved in my friend was at my house and had a wierd experience. i was in the shower and she was washing up in the kitchen. she was really freaked out when i came out. she told me she thought there was someone behind her, and when she turned round she expected me to be behind her, creeping up to make her jump, but there was no one there, she just flet as if something had 'whooshed' past her. she felt quite shaken. the next few nights my smoke alrams started randomly going off in the middle of the night sometimes for seconds then other times longer. i have not really experienced anything since and i have never felt anything sinister, and am not afraid. kind of comforting really
I moved into the property 6 mths ago and have been looking into the history of the building. The old rectory at the top of Rawmarsh Hill was built in 1752 when it must have been very grand building indeed. It has been unoccupied since 1977 and in 2005 is in very poor condition. The slates were stripped off the roof some time ago. It is partly boarded and partly bricked up to stop squatters getting in but the pigeons have no problem. It was sold at auction in 2003/4 and has recently gone to auction again with planning permission to turn the building into flats. The building has listed status but not much land as the large garden was sold off about fifteen years ago and a care home built there. i have experianced suddens drops in tempreture and felt a presence but in no way shape or form is it sinister. so maybe it is the old vicar come to say hello...
chances are its kids in there drinking, they used to frequent it before it got bought a re-developed
