Since the 1800 there have been numerous reports of haunting’s in this building and it has had a very interesting past. Once used as a home, it was later a mortuary and then turned into the pub we now know it as.

It is a strange ghost that haunts this place, he has a dislike for gassed beers. Reports suggest that previous activity got very intense when gassed beers started to be served in the 1950's. The ghost is thought to be a man who was accidently brought to the mortuary while still alive and locked in the freezer. He is known to be a menace ghost, moving things around, running all over the place, leaving the pumps on and even disconnecting the gas lines so the beer would flow flat when pumped at the bar.

He is said to give attractive young women most of his mischievous attention by knocking bottles over next to them and pulling chairs away from them when they are about to sit down.

His actions were very strange for a ghost, but many think it due to his disapproval of what’s being served there.

Later the pub changed back into a Real Ale pub and he seemed to calm down a bit, accepting real ale alongside bottled beers. However he once again made his presence known after a coffee bar had been built. Taking real offense to the modern Italian coffee being served he would often mess with the boiler and make it build up pressure to a dangerously high level. Since a new boiler was installed with a safety valve, his trick has been foiled.

These days he is less active but still there, he still flares up in stages. So if you ever visit the pub, buy real ale just to keep him happy, or you may end up losing your drink on the floor!
