Information on the ghost sightings / hauntings at

The Star News Paper Office.
-
Most people would think that the Star offices are too "Modern" to be haunted, but modern places can be haunted just as much as old ones.

The site was once headquarters for the lawyers of Sheffield before the building that’s there now was built. There is also a supposed Well in the cellar of the Star's Offices which dates back to the 1700's and all sorts of artefacts have been found there and nearby.

Workers in the building, and workers in the buildings nearby, know about the cellar in the building, and its reputation. If you were to ask someone about the cellar, they will go cold and not wish to speak about it.

Often when the cellar was in use, people would go down there and see shadows between people. Groups of men would fight for no reason over the smallest of things and then have no idea why. The old printing blocks use to be stored down there ready for printing the next day, only to be found covered in blasphemy and swearing when it came to print. One worker almost killed his friend with a broken bottle down there, and then had no idea why or what he was doing when he was pulled off and dragged out. The cellar had a bad feeling and bad reputation for playing with people’s minds and causing people to fight and get violent. Eventually the cellar was closed. And still remains closed to this day. No one knows what creature or ghost waits down there.

When the city's phone lines were installed the engineers grew very weary very quickly of the cellar as the lines went under it. When it came to replacing the lines in 1990, BT refused to enter the cellar as some of them remembered that happened last time, and the troubles of the past.

There is a ghost of a young girl who is believed to be the daughter of one lawyer, who was murdered when her dad sent a gang members boss to a hanging. The gang's men returned to teach him a lesson, murdering his wife and daughter. The young girl is said to be active in the reception area, often the cry of a girl can be heard and people feel tugs on their clothes, and hear footsteps as she runs along the floor and hides.

There is one ghost who is friendly, often too friendly with the women! His name is believed to be Wilfred Lyons and is said to have owned a Saville Row Tailors on the site. He is often felt standing near people trying to measure them up for suits. His voice is often heard by bewildered men wanting to know why the person next to them wants to know what side of the bed they get dressed upon! This is the ghost’s favourite trick but all he is doing is simply looking for new customers.
